- To manage secretariat as a center of information to support organic farming movement in Indonesia.
- To recruit more members, create regional network within the country and facilitate organic farming in Indonesia.
- To conduct research, advocate and alliance to supporting groups and creating ad hoc team to strengthen the organic farming movement and policies in Indonesia.
Jaker PO is working to extend the membership in numbers and areas. The main member area is in Sumatera, Java, Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, we are planning to introduce our program to West Timor and Papua. The members are expected to introduce and strengthen other NGOs and farmer groups in the area, so that the campaign on organic farming as a result of sustainable agriculture system could be widened in all areas. We are also aware that not all fields are able to become organic; however, this is a process to regain health environment in the field and people who consume the products. At the moment, there are more than 100 NGOs and individuals involved in the mailing list of Jaker PO. With our small resources, we keep working in the campaign. We actually are rich in human resources, there are some experts in each organization member and want to disseminate their knowledge, skills and abilities with theory and practical experiences to other groups to strengthen the sustainable agriculture system and go to organic farming.
There are various programs and activities implemented by the secretariat to meet the mandate in the General Assembly. The main issue is to develop organic farming movement in Indonesia. There are some activities such as research, implementation through NGO members, empowerment to organic production and market and to establish agricultural consumer groups to support the market of the farmer products.
Jaker PO intends to empower the members; however, the activities are to support all individuals and organizations that are wiling to develop organic farming in their area. Organic farming campaign, advocacy, publication, and development of organic farming on NGO and farmer group basis, facilitate members and non-members to strengthen organic farming knowledge and practices in the basis,
Secretariat as the hand of the Steering Committees works directly with the beneficiaries to work hand in hand to make in reality the vision and mission of Jaker PO. The secretariat and members will work together to initiate the program and run the activities. Each member is expected to give their support from their own expertise and the secretariat will act as to coordinate the activities.
There are some issues that Jaker PO involved as they influence the progress of organic farming such as policy making in local and domestic, anti-GMOs, No-pesticides campaigns, water issues and global warming, etc., to do by the secretariat, NGO members and network with other national networking in domestic, regional and international.
